Selected Moments at Unit44

Our friends from Unit44 in Newcastle will kick off a new exhibition tomorrow, May 26th. It is called "Selected Moments" and is an exhibition by Remi Rough and Stormie Mills.

Remi & Stormie arrived earlier this week. A quick catch up over a Brooklyn and the guys were away to the Hotel to charge. Bright and early they have drummed out some serious studio time whilst sharing some stories about how these pieces originally came to be.

The beauty of this show is allowing two close creatives to re-live and express moments that had brought them together in some of the worlds finest locations. Already it's clear to see the different absorption from the character and feel of the different cities. The bright, warm colours of Miami contrasted against the dark, gritty underground of NYC. Everything about the Unit44 space has come together on this project and will undoubtedly turn a few heads.

About the artists:

Remi/Rough (UK)
Best described as “antiform”, Remi/Rough’s work is the product of a skilled balance of freedom and restraint, with references to Kandinsky, Kline, and Bauhaus and Dadaist movements. The negative space and tension in his painting speaks volumes, juxtaposed against gestural brushstrokes, skewed lines, strong shapes and angular configurations.
He has exhibited his work all over the world, recently showing in Miami as part of Art Basel 2010 and in Vancouver at the highly acclaimed Becker Galleries.

Stormie Mills (AU)
Stormie’s work is an expression of emotion, captured in the layers of his paintings. He has established a strong following for his work across a broad sector of the market continuing to attract collectors for his unique statements on life. Along with success at his solo shows in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, Stormie has crossed many boundaries with representation in London, Los Angeles, Berlin, Barcelona and Greece.
